How to Change Your Default Emoji on Facebook Messenger

Millions of people around the world use Facebook Messenger as their primary messaging platform. If you are one of them, you will know that Facebook Messenger's default reaction emoji is the blue "Like" emoji.
Tap it once, and you send the recipient a Like. The longer you hold the Like button, the bigger it becomes.
But if you don't like having the Like emoji as your default, did you know that you can change it? Here's how to do this on both your smartphone and PC...
Change Your Default Reaction Emoji on Facebook Messenger Mobile
To change your default emoji on Facebook Messenger's mobile app:
- Open a chat window. This can be with any individual or any group chat.
- Below Theme, you will see the Emoji option. Click on it.
- You can now change from the 'Like' button to any emoji you like.
Let's say you chose the duck emoji. Your emoji button should now look like the picture below:
How to Change Your Default Reaction Emoji on PC
To change your default reaction emoji on Messenger on PC:
- Click on the Messenger icon on the top right corner of your screen.
- Open a chat window. This can also be with any individual or any group chat.
- Click on the name of the chat window.
- You will see a list of options for your chat window. Select Emoji.
- You can now change it to your favorite emoji.
As you can see, the steps to changing the default Like emoji to a custom one are very similar for both smartphone app and PC browser version of Messenger.
When you change to a new emoji, all recipients in a chat window will be notified.
